Posh car driven by fancy battery? What's it all about?

.
These people seem to have married up a car that looks as if it could go into outer space with an odd battery to disguise the fact that all it is about is a weird battery.

Is this so?

Flow battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This will need Google Translate and for it to be prompted "Russian".

Can we find out enough to reproduce?
Is it actually worth the trouble?
Are there any patents?

There are large batteries that circulate electrolyte.
Rick Winter at Primus has been doing this. It makes sense.

Well that membraneless flow battery doesn't seem too complicated. Not sure how expensive the materials would be though?

This is what Google Translate reckons:

"Units QUANT e-Sportlimousine receive power from the so-called flow batteries. The principle of operation of flow batteries is simple: design consists of two liquid electrolytes with opposite charges contained in separate tanks. Electrolytes (this fluid with suspended therein solid particles that act as a cathode and an anode) are injected into the cell, where they create the electrochemical reaction with each other, generating electricity. Cells in which the electrochemical reaction occurs can have various designs. In the cell membrane models of liquid separated special ion-exchange membrane in bezmembrannoy design principle is based on the interaction of metal ions in liquids.

The main advantage of this type of battery is that the storage of the accumulated charge and the process of releasing the electricity conducted in two different cell systems. The separation of these two functions makes flow batteries are much more durable than their conventional counterparts. For example, flow battery company Sandia withstand more than 14,000 charge / discharge cycles - the equivalent of 20 years of service, which is impossible for modern lithium-ion batteries. Another advantage of the semi-solid flow cells is their ability to quickly recharge. It is only necessary to drain the spent "fuel" and pour new fluid.

Electrolyte composition has not been disclosed, but according to the developers NanoFlowcell, substances used for plant operation, are non-toxic and totally harmless to the environment. Powerplant NanoFlowcell creates in collaboration with Bosch. Lihtenshteyntsy responsible for the technology, and the Germans - for its implementation in automobiles".

An interesting company:

He has a large number of patents on the subject ... hard to know where to begin:
