Researchers at Kyoto University in Japan have created a very short survey (approximately 45 seconds to complete) aimed at the world public, to assess the effect Fukushima will have in the next few years.

The interesting decision will be that of the Japanese government. Do you think they will follow Germany's example and phase out nuclear power?

Arjun, Germany is not a good Example, its more like just new Propaganda.
Now France and Italy build more Nuclear Power Stations, and actually it seems more, its only a moving from Wealth into this countries because of the Crisis.
They did not build any replacements till now and need to Import the energy from everywhere.

But i dont think anyway, that the BigBusiness with Oil will allow any rational Solutions, where they cant put a Meter on it. Until the Leader from the Countries do not change, for what Reasons ever, ie. the Oil Companies threaten with total deprivation from the Oil, what can crash the whole Industry, then there will not much change.
Also, they may dont want to forget, that the current Energy production is a great Taxmachine.

No, not really

In 1960's hurricane BETTY hit New Orleans; the size and track were virtualkly identical to Catrina, and so was the devastation. In fact, the death toll was also the same, despite the fact that New Orleans had less population in the 60's. In the aftermath, it was discovered that most fatalities were found in the attics of totally submerged buildings, and were elderly, and single Moms with kids.
What happened was, as people who couldn't simply swim out, (elderly, and Moms with kids) encountered the rising water, they climbed higher and higher in the house, eventually climbing up into the attics, THINKING that would 'protect' them from the water, and only realising too late, as the water continued to climb, that they were 'trapped'.
They couldn't 'break-out' of the attics, because most of the roofs in New Orleans are SLATE roofs, with 1" thick wood underneath; (the slate doesn't get blown off, in hurricane winds.)
And so, after Betty, the expression developed, in New Orleans "Always keep an AX in your attic". i.e to be able to 'chop' your way out. However, over the next 40-50 years, as Hurricanes continued to 'miss' New Orleans, and a new generation grew up, and new people moved in, this 'lesson' of Betty was forgotten.
And so, MOST of the fatalities of Catrina were found in the attics, where the were trapped by the rising water, and had no ax.
Point being, in th LONG run, NO, Fukishima won't change anything, other than the maximum acceptable levels of radiation. People forget, and move on.
And, we, as 'civilisation' are addicted to energy; Nuclear AND Fossil fuels. And 'no none' wants to endure what it would take, to go thru withdrawals.
Just like a heroin addict, who doesn't want to go thru withdrawals; they KNOW they woud be 'better off' afterwards, but the process of withdrawal is simply too unpleasent.
Bottom line; the 'average' person is not thinking about Fukishima; they've simply put it out of their mind. Mind over matter; "If you don't MIND, it doesn't MATTER", otherwise known as 'denial'. ;-( Jim

German solar power revolution

Why is it propaganda?

Solar really is exploding all over Germany because it is actually profitable for people to put solar on their property and send the power into the grid, etc... this is happening more in Germany now than anywhere else in the world it seems.

Aaron, because they are not really off the Grid, the only get the Power not from Germany anymore, but from Nuclear Power Stations from close Borders.
They show only one side from the Coin, when they claim we have no Power Stations anymore, we still have them.
Solar is been made from average Peoples, what buy them by her own, they are pave the Roofs here, and think they can save something, but the Lifespan from Solar panel, what is said in the forefront, is close the same as they do cost.
Actually its only fooling Peoples again, let them think to be green, but the main Powr for the Industry still comes from Nuclear Stations.
At last, Germans Politic just wanna look nice, but it would not work with the Help from the other Countrys.
This is no Solution anyhow, just moving the Problems somewhere else.
Business as usual.

I don't know much about Germany, what Joit is describing DID happen, just as he describes it, in the U.S. California became very anti-nuclear, so Az. built the last (until quite recently) Nuclear power plant authorised in the U.S. It has 3 reactors, only 1 of which is needed to supply Ariz. The other 2 are to 'sell' power to California, over the grid. So, the 'strategy' he's describing certainly HAS been used before; Californians could feel 'politically correct', or 'green' or whatever, because they weren't building any NEW nuclear powerplants, all the while USING 'nuclear power' generated outside the state.Jim

dutchdivco Now i actually did laugh a bit, because they use the same Trick as it fits them.
I did not know the Story about Az. and Cal, but it really sounds like the same Story,
probatly Oh'bama gave Merkel a Hint at her countless Visits in the US.
And may thats why our Power companys didnt moan much, as they decided it.
But to think sober about it, they may have no other Capacity to catch up the Power Spikes from Industry and Homes.
Just a shame, when some Countrys call herself 'green', when they cant be.
And anyhow i still think, Politicans are looking more on the sales, what Peoples now make with a new Toy.

Read the Fukushima thread or forward to the researchers. This should provide them with more than they need to complete their survey.
Beside, such survey make sense when you ask people with at least basic technical knowledge in the nuclear field. An average person maybe oblivious to the potential consequences. Especially when fed by controlled media bs.

Yes, it is the same 'trick', exactly. Didn't need obama to tell Merkel, however. Its something the 'Industry' would all know about, as the Palo Verde Nuclear generating Station (Outside Phoenix, Az.) was developed over 20 years ago.

It, (Palo Verde) incoporated ANOTHER 'trick', which was used (and the fatal flaw exposed) at Fukishima. IF your going to go to all the trouble, expense, and deal with the protesters to BUILD a nuclear power plant, its not much more (trouble, hassle, expence, etc.) to build multiple reactors on the SAME site. Palo Verde has (I believe) 3. "After all, there is NO WAY some kind of emergency could effect more than 1 reactor at the same time, right??? What are the odds??? And besides, we could just 'scram' or shut down the 'other' reactors!"
The thing is, while Palo Verde is in the middle of the desert, and so is unlikely to experience a Tsunami, when all else failed, (at Fuktupishima) they resorted to pumping millions of gallons of sea water into it, to cool it off. There is NO ocean next to palo verde; its in the middle of the Desert!!! In a similar situation, they would HAVE no such 'last ditch' way of cooling it down, and stopping the reaction! It would therefore just 'cook-off' indefinetly. NOW isn't THAT reassuring!!!!
The Politicians, (not that I would ever defend such creatures) are faced with a delemma; the majority of people want to continue a lifestyel which is based on 'cheap energy'. HOW to continue the status quo? And of coarse, the big contributors to campaigns ALSO want the 'status quo' to continue, and so local as well as national politicians are 'pro-growth', and continue to do things to promote growth.
No one, (it seems) is REALLY asking "Why is growth GOOD?" Why do we WANT 'more growth?" Because more growth means more jobs. And so more people move here, to fill the jobs. And they need houses to live in, and the other 'necesities of life', which means even MORE jobs.....and results in even MORE people moving here. And where is the benefit in that, exactly???
More traffic, more congestion, more pollution,...and so exactly HOW does this 'growth' benefit me????
"Pave Paradise,....and put up a parking lot!" (or a 'highrise', a 'condominium, etc.) "Don't it always seem to pass, that you don'y KNOW what you've got,....till its gone!"

If you want amperage, then think toroid coil inside flexible copper tubing.

John like Royal Raymond Rife before him seems to be using "sympathetic resonant frequencies" to alter the composition of matter. he is projecting the hetrodyned frequencies using the modified magnatron as you quite rightly observe. Here is a video of the machine in action
